What is GLP-2 TZ?

GLP-2 TZ is a synthetic analog of glucagon-like peptide-2, the 33-amino-acid hormone released by enteroendocrine L-cells in the distal intestine. Native GLP-2 is cleaved by dipeptidyl peptidase-IV at the second residue and survives roughly seven minutes in plasma — too short to study cleanly. The analog carries a single substitution at that position (alanine to glycine) which removes the cleavage site, and that one change is what makes the molecule usable as a laboratory research tool.

Despite the shared “GLP” name, this is not an incretin analog. It acts at the GLP-2 receptor — a Gs-coupled GPCR whose expression is unusually confined to the gut wall, appearing on intestinal subepithelial myofibroblasts, enteric neurons, and scattered enteroendocrine cells. That is a different receptor and a different literature from GLP-1 or GIP compounds, whose receptors are distributed across the pancreas, heart, brain, and kidney. Published research on this compound class sits in intestinal biology, not metabolic research.

Reflex supplies GLP-2 TZ as a lyophilized powder for laboratory research use only. Each lot is assayed by an independent U.S. laboratory and ships with its Certificate of Analysis. Nothing on this page describes an approved therapy or a use in humans; it summarises what published research has examined.

What the literature examines

Studied pathways

Summaries of what published research has investigated. Preclinical unless stated otherwise — not claims about this product.

01

GLP-2R agonism

Published work characterises binding at the GLP-2 receptor and the cAMP/PKA signalling that follows in intestinal subepithelial cells, including cross-talk with IGF-1 and EGF receptor pathways.

02

Mucosal trophic signalling

Studies examine crypt cell proliferation and enterocyte apoptosis in villus epithelium — the two processes that together determine mucosal surface area in resection and injury models.

03

DPP-IV resistance

The substitution at position 2 blocks dipeptidyl peptidase-IV cleavage. Literature in this class compares the resulting exposure profile against native GLP-2 and its roughly seven-minute half-life.

The research

What the published literature examines

Summaries of independent research on this compound class — findings from other people's published work, not claims about the material sold here.

Preclinical / clinical

Intestinal adaptation

The largest body of work uses small-bowel resection models, where GLP-2 receptor activation has been studied against villus height, crypt depth, and total mucosal surface area. The analog class is the standard research tool for intestinal adaptation after resection.

In vitro / preclinical

Epithelial barrier function

Published work examines paracellular permeability and tight-junction integrity in intestinal epithelium, measuring barrier function in injury models rather than a therapeutic endpoint.

Preclinical

Inflammatory bowel models

Rodent colitis and Crohn’s models have been used to study mucosal inflammation and epithelial healing under GLP-2 receptor signalling.

Questions

GLP-2 TZ FAQ

Is GLP-2 TZ approved by the FDA?

No. GLP-2 TZ is not an FDA-approved drug and is not approved for human or veterinary use. It is supplied exclusively as a research material for laboratory use, and it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Does this lot come with a Certificate of Analysis?

Yes. Every lot is assayed by an independent U.S. laboratory for purity and identity, and the certificate for the lot you receive is published in our COA library — you can read it before you order.

How is purity determined?

Purity is quantified by reverse-phase HPLC against a reference standard, and identity is confirmed by mass spectrometry. Both results appear on the lot certificate.

How should this be stored?

Lyophilized material is typically stored cold and protected from light. Handling and storage are the responsibility of the receiving laboratory; refer to the lot documentation for specifics.

How does the buy-one-get-one offer work?

Every second vial is free, sitewide and automatically. Add two vials and you pay for one; add six and you pay for three. Compounds can be mixed, there is no code, and there is no limit.

When will my order ship?

Orders are processed promptly and shipped with tracking. Free US shipping applies over $100; Priority shipping is $8.95 otherwise.
